Technology Innovation Institute (TII) has joined the Science and Technology in Society (STS) forum as a Full Member. The STS forum is a non-profit organization registered in Tokyo, Japan, whose activities started in 2004. Its Annual Meeting convenes close to 1,500 scientists, researchers, and global leaders from government, industry, and academia representing 100 countries, regions, and international organisations. The meeting is held in Kyoto, Japan, a city that is both a 1,200-year-old ancient capital and a current centre of cutting-edge science and technology.

At the meeting, the leaders discuss “strengthening the lights and controlling the shadows” of science and technology from both a near-term, and a long-term perspective, not just as representatives of their organisations, but as concerned global citizens.

Now in its 18th year, the STS forum has grown in size, quality, and diversity to become the world’s premier platform for discussing issues related to science and technology and their implications for society.

Dr. Ray O. Johnson, Chief Executive Officer of Technology Innovation Institute, said: “TII is privileged to be a part of the STS forum – a worldwide movement of top leaders across different spheres of work who evaluate the future of science and technology from a long-term viewpoint for all of humankind. The membership will enable TII to enhance its networking capabilities to help shape best-in-class science, technology, innovation, and the research solutions for the future.”

Hiroshi Komiyama, Chairman of STS forum, said: “The STS forum’s greatest asset is its human network, which goes beyond national boundaries and academic disciplines. We are confident that Technology Innovation Institute’s membership of the STS forum will bode well for our efforts to use science and technology for the future of human good.”

Congratulations to our teams for this achievement that will pave the way for our organisation to play a bigger and more enhanced role in defining next generation innovation standards.
