Who We Are
At the Secure Systems Research Center (SSRC), we are building a global center of excellence in the development of end-to-end security and resilience for cyber-physical and autonomous systems.
We take a deliberately multi-disciplinary approach that allows us to combine domain knowledge with security and resilience technologies. As a result, we deliver breakthroughs in applied research that benefit society, support smart cities and boost economic development.
SSRC is part of the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), a UAE-based research center that aims to lead global advances in artificial intelligence, autonomous robotics, quantum computing, cryptography and quantum communications, directed energy, secure communication, smart devices, advanced materials, and propulsion and space technologies.
We belong to the Abu Dhabi Government’s Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), which oversees technology research in the emirate.
What We Do
At the Secure Systems Research Center, we take an applied research approach and focus on hands-on applications – demonstrating the power and scope of our pioneering technologies in the real world, so they can be adopted rapidly by our commercial and industrial partners.
Today, our mission is to drive end-to-end security and resilience in cyber physical and autonomous systems that will ensure safety and enrich lives in the UAE and worldwide. As one of the world’s leading institutions in this field, we are enabling a variety of advanced use cases, and creating proprietary technologies: defining the architecture and building the components.
We pursue applied research with a focus on real-world application. By leveraging technologies such as machine learning (ML), we are improving system security. Through approaches such as mesh networks, we are improving the resilience of smartphones, drones and other cyber-physical and autonomous systems.
Our unique work is focused on a cluster of key domains, from next generation secure smartphones to autonomous drones

Hardware hardening against tampering,
alternative channels resilience (platforms)

Software hardening
and resilience against malware (OS, apps, cloud)

Maintaining system integrity
and preventing data exfiltration

Communication hardening protocols,
as well as network resilience
Our Team
At SSRC, we bring a disciplined scientific and engineering approach to problem solving and to the creation of new technologies. Our teams make this possible.
Scientific Advisory Board
We have assembled a scientific board of world-renowned engineers and scientists specialising in SSRC’s areas of expertise.
