We are pleased to announce that Francisco Rodríguez-Henríquez, Technical Director at the Technology Innovation Institute’s (TII) Cryptography Research Center (CRC), has officially been appointed to the Board of Directors of the prestigious International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR). This historic appointment marks Rodríguez-Henríquez’s semi-nal achievement as the first cryptographer from the Middle East to join IACR’s esteemed Board of Directors.

Along with María Naya-Plasencia from the National Institute for Research in Digital Sciences and Technologies in Paris, and Moti Yung from Columbia University in New York, Rodríguez-Henríquez’s three-year tenure promises to catalyze the critical dissemination and develop-ment of cryptography in the Middle East, including the organization of cryptographic fora, seminars, and conferences that would further enrich this dynamic ecosystem.

IACR is a non-profit scientific organization whose purpose is to further research in cryptology and related fields. This world-renowned entity facilitates crucial decision-making processes, oversees and orchestrates the organization of conferences, cryptographic schools, journals, conference proceedings, and a myriad of other activities. The ramifications of these decisions reverberate globally, influencing the landscape of cryptographic disciplines on an international scale.

In his new role, Rodríguez-Henríquez’s primary goal would be to encourage the growth of openly accessible cryptographic software and hardware libraries, which aims to not only im-plement innovative cryptographic algorithms regularly introduced at IACR conferences, but also promote broader availability and practical application of cutting-edge cryptographic solu-tions.

Congratulations to Rodríguez-Henríquez and his fellow IACR Directors!
