Prof. Mustapha Jouaid

Prof. Mustapha Jouaid is a Member of the Board of Advisors of the Directed Energy Research Center at the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), a cutting-edge UAE-based scientific research center. In this capacity, he is engaged in supporting DERC's advanced research in laser sources and laser-based sensors.

Prof. Jouaid is also a Full Professor at the Université de Picardie Jules Verne (UPJV) in Amiens, France. Lately, Prof. Jouiad’s research is focused on the development, modification and characterisation of nanostructures, oxides and functionalised nanoparticles that possess high optical, electrical, and catalytic properties as well as in situ assessment of wettability alteration and 3D imaging. 

Previously, Prof. Jouaid worked as faculty and principal investigator with the Materials Science programme at Masdar Institute of Science and Technology in Abu Dhabi, UAE and was also Director of the Microscopy Center. Earlier, he was associated with prestigious universities and research centers including the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (UIUC), USA, CNRS France and Lawrence Livermore National Lab (LLNL), in the US.

Prof. Jouiad has written and co-authored more than 110 papers published in international peer-reviewed journals and is co-inventor of two US patents. He is a member of the editorial board of Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells (Elsevier), Nanomaterials (MDPI) and Catalysts (MDPI).

Prof. Mustapha Jouaid holds a PhD in Materials Science from University of Paul Sabatier, Toulouse, France.
