Prof. Agostino Monorchio

Prof. Agostino Monorchio is a Member of the Board of Advisors of the Directed Energy Research Center (DERC) at the Technology Innovation Institute, a cutting-edge UAE-based scientific research center. In this capacity, he provides expert guidance on new approaches for flexible conformal metasurfaces for electromagnetic applications.

Prof. Agostino Monorchio is also Full Professor of Electromagnetic Fields at the University of Pisa. He has completed several research and consultancy tenures at the Electromagnetic Communication Laboratory at Pennsylvania State University (USA), at the University of Granada (Spain) and at various research institutes and universities in China. He has also served as principal scientific investigator on multiple national and European research projects.

Prof. Monorchio’s core research interests include computational electromagnetics, microwave metamaterials, radio propagation for wireless systems, the design and miniaturisation of antennas and electromagnetic compatibility, and biomedical microwaves applications.

A member of the National Laboratory of (National Interuniversity Consortium for Telecommunications), he was associated with the Pisa Section of INFN, the National Institute of Nuclear Physics. Prof. Monorchio is also a member of the Italian Society of Electromagnetism (SIEM).

His research findings have been published in more than 130 journal papers and book chapters, and he has participated in 200 speaking opportunities at international and national conferences. He also co-authored four patents.

Prof. Agostino Monarchio is a Fellow of the IEEE, an achievement that recognises his contributions to computational electromagnetics and for the application of frequency selective surfaces in metamaterials.

Prof. Agostino Monorchio holds a PhD in Methods and Technologies for Environmental Monitoring and a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering from the University of Pisa in Italy.
