Montena Technology
Nature of the synergy
DERC is joining hands with Montena Technology, a world leader in the generation and measurement of high-voltage fast transient impulses, to advance the scientific knowledge of high-altitude electromagnetic pulse (HEMP) and related sensing technologies. From simulations to measurements, Montena and the Directed Energy Research Center aim to study the electromagnetic environment created during nuclear reactions in high altitude. As a tangible outcome, the studies will lead to the design of appropriate safeguards for critical infrastructures.
Radaz
Nature of the synergy
DERC is partnering with Radaz, a company specialising in the development of Remote Sensing Radar, offering the most advanced tri-band, interferometric and polarimetric drone-borne radar on the market, to advance new concepts for Airborne Synthetic and Ground Penetrating Microwave Imaging Sensors. The high demand on airborne payloads presents a unique opportunity for electromagnetic sensor experts to bring their technologies onboard modern UAVs. DERC and Radaz are teaming up to evaluate Ground Penetrating Radars and Synthetic Aperture Radars in Abu Dhabi skies. By December 2021, the payload will begin flying in the desert and identifying natural resources to study on the ground as well as underground.
University of Picardie Jules Verne
Nature of the synergy:
Working collaboratively with Université de Picardie Jules Verne (France), DERC is pursuing advanced research in laser sources and laser-based sensors. Experts from the Université de Picardie Jules Verne will host Mariam Al Qaydi, Researcher at DERC over a four-year period to collaborate in developing innovations in the field of laser sources and gain greater insight in leveraging laser sources for the detection of chemicals and toxic materials. At the end of her visit, Al Qaydi will introduce these capabilities across DERC’s own projects in the Laser, Photonics and Optoelectronics group.
