TII’s Dr. Reem Ashour Assumes Key Leadership Role in UAE’s IEEE Women in Engi-neering

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Reem Ashour, Senior Researcher at our Autonomous Robotics Research Center (ARRC), has been appointed to the UAE IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) leadership committee as Secretary for the 2024-2025 cycle. This stellar achievement signifies the considerable progress talented women in the STEM field have made nationwide. It also highlights the critical support offered by global research organizations like TII in driving academic excellence.

IEEE WIE is a global network of IEEE members and volunteers dedicated to promoting women engineers and scientists and inspiring girls around the world to follow engineering and science careers. Their mission is to connect and support women and girls worldwide and facilitate their recruitment and retention in STEM fields, fostering technological innovation for the benefit of humanity.

Before this outstanding achievement, Dr. Ashour collaborated with Dr. Diana Dawoud, Assistant Professor at the University of Dubai, and Dr. Lilas Alrahis, Postdoctoral Associate at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD), to develop and submit a proposal to spearhead the UAE chapter of IEEE WIE. Their joint proposal was successfully accepted, with both Dr. Dawoud and Dr. Alrahis also securing pivotal roles within the committee.

Dr. Ashour is set to participate in the IEEE WIE International Leadership Summits (ILS) 2024 in Dubai in April. Her impressive achievement presents a valuable opportunity for personal growth while helping to enhance TII's reputation on a prestigious international stage.

Congratulations to Dr. Ashour and her exceptional committee members!
