A Bayesian network approach to quantum nonequilibrium physics

Fluctuation theorems are fundamental extensions of the second law of thermodynamics for small systems. Their general validity arbitrarily far from equilibrium makes them invaluable in nonequilibrium physics. We present a theoretical and experimental study of fully quantum fluctuation relations using a novel dynamic Bayesian network approach. This powerful formalism allows one to capture the effect of quantum coherence and quantum correlations in far from equilibrium processes, in contrast to existing methods.
