DERC virtual seminar in High Energy Physics attracts 230 attendees from 20+ countries

The Directed Energy Research Center (DERC) and Khalifa University’s Advanced Power and Energy Center welcomed 230 attendees to the first in a series of virtual seminars on High Energy Physics and Sensing Technologies.

Hailing from more than 20 countries, viewers included representatives of 18 research laboratories and 12 private companies. Focused on high-power electromagnetics and intentional electromagnetic interference, the well-received event succeeded in part to the dozen leading international scientists who presented their latest research in the field during the seminar.

The next seminar, schedule for September, will address high-energy lasers. High-power acoustics will be the topic of the seminar to be held in November, while radar and sensing is on the agenda for the January 2021 session.

Partners for this first event included Xi’an Jiaotong University (China), Helmut Schmidt Universität (Germany), National Center for International Research on Transient Electromagnetics & Applications (China), and SKLEI (China), while support came from scientific societies such as the InternationalUnion of Radioscience (URSI), SUMMA Foundation and the UAE Chapter of IEEE Power & Energy Society.
